nerd1951.com
nerd1951.com is a place for me to document the technical projects that I’m working on for fun and to share what I’ve learned in the process.
Right now my focus is integrating multimedia and embedded systems. Multimedia applications are common in embedded systems from personal entertainment gadgets to telepresence and remote sensing systems. Some of the most exciting work in embedded systems includes some degree of multimedia processing.
The site is divided into two sections: the project pages and the blog.
The blog is like my notebook. I’ll post stuff as I work on a project: works in progress, what I’ve learned, what works, what doesn’t and things that just blow up in my face.
The project pages will be more organized. When ever I feel I’ve collected enough useful stuff in the blog to warrent a formal write-up, I’ll create a separate page and try to present the material in a more useful form.

Interestingly the English Etymology Dictionary dates the word nerd from the year 1951:
nerd 1951, U.S. student slang, probably an alteration of 1940s slang nert “stupid or crazy person,” itself an alteration of nut.
